My name is Kiara Espinal and I’m currently a graduate student at Pace University studying for my Master of Arts in Communications and Digital Media with a focus on Social Media and PR Marketing. Previously, I attended SUNY Potsdam where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts as a double major in Graphic Design/New Media and Speech Communication.
During my undergrad, I worked as the comptroller and then treasurer of the Student Government Association of SUNY Potsdam. In my role, I represented the student body and any financial affairs with the student activity fee. I oversaw and managed all student-run club budgets and finances. I also chaired and led the student senate which had over 50 student representatives. Both of my positions have helped me become a better leader and team member in diverse settings.
I was also a Graphic Design Intern for the Student Government during my senior year, the Public Relations Officer of the Black Student Alliance during my sophomore year, and a member of BuildOn during high school to actively support my community.
As a graduate student, my goal is to grow my knowledge and my passion for communications in a digital world as well as create and promote safe, diverse, inclusive, and creative spaces in my academic and work environments. My career goals are: to continue to build my knowledge of communication, digital media, and how they work together, to create more diverse and inclusive spaces with communication, marketing, and digital media, and to work behind the scenes with companies to continue to build and grow their social media presence.
